March 2024 Level Up Leadership: Korean Cultural Training

Level Up Leadership series is free monthly professional development training held on the first Thursday of each month.

Topic for March 2024 Level Up Leadership: Diversity Awareness, Leadership Differences, and Korean Cultural Training. Kokomo, Indiana is on the precipice of exciting community growth. Join us for a Level Up Leadership with speaker James Kim, Intercultural Training Coordinator for Ivy Tech Community College Kokomo Region and member of Leadership Kokomo’s 42nd cohort. James will cover topics including: General cultural differences, leadership styles between the 2 Koreas, work culture, holidays, entertainment, and food.

The objective of this presentation is to gain insight into Korean culture and enhance cultural competency. Additionally, it seeks to explore the distinct leadership styles prevalent in both North and South Korea.

About the speaker: James Kim hails from Seoul, South Korea, and has recently become a resident of Kokomo, Indiana. He holds a bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management and possesses diverse experience in various fields such as customer service and IT technical support. In June of last year, James joined Ivy Tech College Kokomo Campus as an Intercultural Training Coordinator. His efforts are dedicated to bridging the gap between the local and Korean communities, alongside delivering Korean cultural presentations aimed at fostering cultural competence.
